Baptism!!!

I hope everybody had a great christmas!! we had a white christmas in the baptism of mario it was so great!! he cut his hair for it!! sorry i dont have a picture of him with long hair. he is on track to get the priesthood next week!!!

after the baptisim he came up to me and my comp and hugged us and just started crying and said my sons in english!! it was the best!! then we took him to get ice cream!! it was a great way to end the transfer!! i loved it!! the next day he came dressed in a suit!!

yesterday we invited a new investigator to be baptised and it was great!! she understood very well that she needs it!! and it was a great example for me. we she realized that her baptisim in the catholic church wasnt vallid she showed her motherly love towarrds her children first and said "you mean my childrens baptisims didnt count?" with concern in her voice!!

i love the mission and am becoming a Consecrated missionary more and more every day!!

Carlos!! needs paryers!! He is ready to be baptised but he just lacks didicating himself more fully!

I would just like to brag for a little bit about how awesome this little branch is!! when they see and investigator come to church the welcome them so so well!! they invite them to their house!! they befriend them!! they are so willing to work and i see so much potential here!! i have learned that if we show the lord that we are confiable, he entrusts us with his prepared sheep! when he can turst a ward or branch that they will do there part to help these sheep he confies in us!! and we see lots of success!! lets show the lord that he can trust in us!

the work is great!! lets share with the world that #unsalvadorhanacido #asaviorisborn !!!

Week of bike repairs

so i put the subject as it is because we spent about 1000 pesos on fixing our bikes this week. only one was our falt... so my chain fell off and the bikes being how they are you cant break if your chain is off... so my comp came up beside me to stop me and our handel bars crossed and we fell... we both went flying and our bikes too... everything in my front pocket went flying including a savior is born cards. they were everywhere... a nice lady that saw it asked if we were ok and we said yea! we just laughed about it and then this kid that say said your handel bars crossed. it was funny because we obvisouly knew that haha!! then we got my chain back on and started to go and my comps chain fell off... turns out it was because in the crash he had bent his middle gear. and yea i had to pull him all the way back to the bike place haha what an adventure!!

So we were going to have a baptisim this week but he didnt come to church. and we still technocly could because he has enough attendences but we want to make sure he is ready to make this kind of promise with the lord.
mario!!! has a baptisimal date for the 26th!! he is so awesome!! angles have been preparing him for a while now!! and we came into his life in a perfect moment!! coincidence? i think not!!! the lord is awesome!!

Week 5

so this week santino and fausto got baptised as well as two other 8 year olds from the ward!!! one was the bishops daughter and they threw a big party for her! after the baptisim there was a big blow up bounce house and a foosball table. and food!! so i guess thats the new secret to baptising 4!! haha!! were going to need new mission funds to rent them every time!!! haha just kidding!! it was very good!! very spitual!!

we had a really cool miricle this week!! on monday we were knocking doors and we both felt impresed to knock on one! a woman came out and so we gave her a question card. and she said thanks ill go get my sister. and we were a little confused!! so the sister came out and she greated us and told us her name is celeste. we started to talk to her and she told us that she had gone to seminary 4 time last week and we were like wait what? and she was like yea!! and we were like our seminary and she was like yea! so we started to ask and she said that she went with martin morales who is her boy friend. he is a less active that we didnt know. so we set up an appointment for the next day!!

The next day we went and martin was there!! and she lives 2 blocks from the church and we asked if she wanted to get to know the church and she said sure!! so we went and had the lesson there!! she listened so well and she accepted a baptismal date for the 28th! the second lesson we did a prayer with her for her family and she said that she was going to invite her mom!!

Blessed!

Well, What a good week! God is a God of miricles and when we do what he wants and show him that we will willingly follow his will he blesses us with these miricles!!

and (satan) came before me, saying—Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor. But, behold, my Beloved son, which was my Beloved and Chosen from the beginning, said unto me—Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever.(jesus the christ.chpt 2 4th paragraph)

As this shows jesus said, in modern day language, ill do the plan you already have set up. he didnt say he is a plan that i thought would be a good idea bucause he already knew and trusted in god that he had the perfect plan. so jesus said that he would be the means by which gods plan was possible. that is the essence of following the will of god.
so as we willing say to god i will be the means by which you carry out your plan, therefor submitting our will to that of god, or in other words saying that we will be his hands. as we do this we will start to see the blessing we see in the scriptures, that are promised for doing this, flow into our lives. and this is what i saw this week. im not saying that i did it perfectly. because i still have a long way to go. but i have see the blessings for my efforts!

i would like to share two of these blessings with you.

First, we were walking to an appointment that we had and we saw this man and wife carrying in grocerys and so we offered to help they very hasitantly let us help which is a miricle in and of its self! we helped them bring them in when i remembered that we had helped this same lady in this same house move her refridgerator to a different room which consisted of taking it out and around the house. i asked her how is the new place for the refridgerator working out and she looked at me weirdly and then she got this funny look of emberesment and relife on her face and said oh you guys help me move that!! how are you?? im so sorry i didnt recogonize you! they both at that moment just lossened up and said come in come in!! we went in and they gave us juice and were so nice. we didnt have much time and so we shared a scripture on hope in ether 12:4 and shared a little about the book of mormon! they said ok call us and we will plan a dinner and see when we have more time to chat!!

second, we had a ward council which is also a little miricle!! its been three months since the last one. my first week in the ward. and in this ward council someone made a comment about some twins in the ward who come every week with their grandma and are 8 about to turn nine and they have been wanting to get baptised but no one has really taken action. the dad is less active so now that theyll be nine the baptisim is in charge of  the missoinaries. ill take action i said!! we went to the dads house yesterday and talked to him very frankly about the situation and he is 100% ok with it. he even agreed to listening to the lessons with his sons!! he said he has felt something inside that he didnt know what it was. so we had him read alma 32 where it talks about the seed.

one other cool experience. yesterday we were walking and i was finding that a lot of things that my comp was doing were anoying me. and to be 100% truthfull i was justified. but i decied to try and be humble. i said a prayer to ask for the lords help and a thought came to my mind. i needed to use the bathroom. we were just passing by the church and what i would usually say would be something like. i need to use the bathroom or were going to stop to use the bathroom. but i thought to say is it ok if we stop to use the bathroom? and he said sure. it was amazing how something so simple made him change his mood so fast. and me change mine! latter i had another impresion to ask would you like to lead this next lesson. he said, um sure. both of our moods change so fast and we were getting along very well. the lesson was supper good and i learned a lot from my comp. the spirit was very strong.
I love my mission! it is changeing me!!!

Surprise for me!!

So last night we recieved the call about the transfers and i thought that i was going to be leaving for sure!! because in total i have been in three wards that are all right next to each other for 7 and a half months and my comp and i have been together for a transfer and a little! but im staying and so is my comp!! which will make for 9 months in marcos paz and 2 and 1/2 transfers with my comp! long time!!

Much more than this im not going to say because i want all of you to focus on the teachings of general conference!! especially the invitation of elder lawerence!! ask what lack i yet!! the spirit gives costomized counsel!!

i love you all!!

Change!!

I love my missoin and am changing so so much! i love being a leader and serving the people and other missionarys! I have been frusterated with my self latly because i have been trying to be a better missionary and i havent seen the changes that i have wanted. but i realized that change isnt something instantanious rather something progresive. its like climbing a mountain. we can get to the top in an instant. and if we get frusterated with our selfs for not being able to do it, it wont help us and we never will get there. we need to start the JOURNEY step by step, paso por paso. having patience every step of the way! i now know that i will take steps backward but i cant get frusterated no one is perfect. the lord doesnt expect instant  perfection but he does expect constant improvment! and he is so proud of every step that we take!! we can not forget that! with his help it is possible to reach our goals. like climbing a tall mountain we will all need oxygen at some point. we CANNOT do it alone. nor do we have to!

i know this is the gosple of jesus christ and i know how incrdibly blessed i am to be in it and to have been born in it!! that you for every single one of you for all you did for me! i wouldnt be who i am if not for every one that cares about me enough to read this! thank you! have a fantastic week!!

Yea!!!

so this week we had the wounderful opertunity to go to the offices of the missoin and listen to elder teixeira! He is in the first quarm of the seventy and server as mission president in the sao pablo south mission in 2005ish! he talked to us about how we need to not clasical condition our selfs to think that because of an area or mission we cant teach alot or baptise alot... he also told us about how we just need to talk to absultly every one we can!! and invite every one to church!!

Im doing great and am changing my life!! i used to think that i can do it with just a decission but i now know that that isnt the case it will take time and patience but with the lord i can do it!!

I love you all!! have a great week!!

Good Week!!

So last week i was kinda down for a lack of success that i was seeing... I felt like i was working good and that i wasnt getting the blessings that are promised. but as i went through this week i realized why!!
Ether 12:12
12 For if there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith.

My faith was being tested to see if i would keep doing what i knew i had to!! and i did so we saw the miricles!!
Miricle #1

Sister Galeano, her family has reciently reactivated and she was being kind of stuborn and would not come back!! after working and working! she came!!!!!!!!

Family Cortez! came after 9 weeks of not coming and they enjoyed and are going to come next week!!

Family Medina!!!!!!!! CAME!!!!! they are the family i talked about last week!! and after 12 years and alot of missionarys the finally came!! i think i felt a fraction of what god feels when we make the right deciscions!!
Gladis!! gladis is a les active who hasnt been in like 6 years! and she came back!!

Milagros!!! the daughter of gladis who never got baptised! came to church and accepted a baptismal date for the 3rd of october!!! she is reading the book of mormon and marking it!! and she is going to start going to seminary this tuesday!! and she is going to go to a stake dance that they are going to have!!

And many more!!

Week Tranquillo!!

So there was really nothing to intersting to report this week!! it was very very calm just being a missionary!! so i apoligze for the little letter... i had to travle to ramos mejia today and that is an hour and a half there and and hour and a half back plus the choir practice that we had there!! so i dont have that much time... so just know that i am very good!! and that marcos paz is good!!
Love, Elder Groen!!

Quick Story! We have be working with a less active family that were baptized in the year 1981 more or less and they have been inactive for about 10 years i think... but wait it gets better!!! one of my goodfriends, presten hymas, his dad, Scott Hymas, baptised this family when he was a young missionary serving in the same area that i am!! The familys last name is medina. the missionarys have been working with them for a good while now and they havent seen much success... when i got here i had a really deep desire to help them!! So we have been passing by to see them and teach them. We had a lesson with them that to me and my companion seemed like the other lessons we had had. Ending with an invitation to come to church! and them saying "yea we'll have to see... i dont think so..." but after the lesson both my compaion and i felt like they were starting to make progress!! I was so happy!! And thats when the miricles started to happen!! they then shortly after accepted the home teachers in their house and we talking with them for 4 hours!! and then last night they called the bishop telling him they wanted interviews!! I got so happy when i heard that and I think i got a little bit of a taste of what god feels for us when we do whats right!! cool things!!

Week in Argentina

so it was a good week. right now in the area we are having trubles finging investigators who are what we call elected, or to say in other words, people who are going to progress... so prayers we be of much appreciation!!
We had a cool experience this week that i wanted to share this week!!

So we had a lesson planned with one of our not so ready investigators. the lesson previous to that one we taught the word of wisdom and so when we got there he came up to us and told us that he didnt want to keep listing to us. he said that he likes his wine and coffe too much.

so we were left with out a plan but the truth is god never leaves us planless! he knew that mario was going to say that so he had something up his sleave!! we said a prayer to ask where we should go and the decided a way to walk and started walking after me and my comp both got an urge to go to the bathroom... strange... but we followed it like the obedient servants of god that we are!

so we went to the closest members house. this members husband had been in the hospital for about a week or two but was getting better. so we got there and went and just sat out side with her and she told us that her husband had passed away the day before. so we help her feel better and we were able to advise the bishop and got the word out so that the word could help her!! we sand a hymn to her and it reminded me of when my entire extended family were all together for the passing of my grandma. as all 40ish of us stood in a small hospital room encircling the bed of my sufering grandma and sang hymn after hymn, the sprit testified to each and every one of us that it was ok and that god was right there with us and that my grandma was leaveing us only to be place in the hands of our father in heaven. as me and my companion were able to sing to her, we were able to bring a small part of that same spirit to this sister and to testify to her that he dear husband how got baptised just a short 2 months ago was in the hands of god!! i know that god watches over you and i. i know that his son jesus chirst lives! of this there is no doubt in my mind! i would like to end this letter by saying thank you so much for all the prayers!! there are very much needed!

Week!

So this week was pretty good!

Tuesday and Wednesday I was able to do divisions with some of the elders in my district!!
on wednesday we had special training with president and the assistants!! they taught us how to better use the book of mormon!! and how to teach the restoration more focused on baptisim!! then president then opened it up to questions for everyone!! it was super good!

My favorite part of the week!! While with president i asked him if i could go to the area next to mine and visit a family that i baptised to get them excited about going to the temple!!! and he said yes!! so on saturday i went and visited them and that was so awesome!! the werent 100% acitve like they should be but we comitted them to do it!! i am so very excited for them and i will keep you all updated on when they go to the temple!!
i love you all and hope you all have a great week!!!

Week in the rain!!!

Flooding after a week of rain

so i would like to take this opertunity to brag about my companion a little!! Elder Abel is an elder that is very spiritual! he is very good and only has desires to get better!! he is very humble and that is always so good!! i will hopefully learn how to be more humble!!
Dinner for a starving missionary
I learned a very cool lesson this week!!

Not Celestial Missionarys!
Personal Knolege is the Power
Nothing is the Price
Self Rocognition is the Motive
Personal Teaching Abilities are the Key
Fear is the Reason
Guilt,Regret, and disanimo are the rewards

Celestial Missionarys!
Faith is the Power
Obedience is the Price
Love is the Motive
The Spirit is the Key
Christ is the Reason
Joy, and Success is the Reward

As we strive to be a celestial missionary we need to see the way in which we do things! we need to be doing them in the way that god wants us to do them!! and not in our own way!! i have recently checked myself and fixed some things that i needed to and i chalange you to do so as well! missionary or not! i know that the lord has a way and that as we follow the will of god he will bless us and the lives of others!! gods way is the only way! i have a new slogan!! "25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it." Matthew 16

Tuesday: The Travling Asistants came and talked with us elder hansen took my comp to the offices to talk to president. i stayed and worked with the other one elder collins. he came to my district meeting and gave me some great comments!! we then worked together that whole day!! we found 13 new investigators!!!!!!! what a day!! that night we slept in our apartment with me, elder ramiers elder hansen and elder collins.

Wednesday: We talked in the morning with the asistants and set some goals. then they left and me and elder ramirez stayed together!! we worked the whole day together and he was doing some things that were dirictly against what president had told him so i called the asistants. he kind of had a panic attack and went kind of crazy. we called the nurse and she had me calm him down! then i got a call from president who was worried about me for some stuff that my comp was saying and he said that he was going to send the other two assistants to come and get us. the got to our place at 1:00 a.m.and told elder ramirez that he had to pack his stuff up. we got to their apartment at 2:30 A.M. and stayed with them!

Whooo!!

So Im in Marcos Paz again but this time the other ward Marcos Paz 2! its like 1 hour and a half from my last area! its like 6 blocks from my apartment in marcos paz 1!!

my comp`is from paraguay and is a convert of two years. he is 24 years old. His name is Elder Remirez. He Is a Good Elder still learning alot about the gosple. it is going to take a lot of patientence but it will be very very good for me!! for example yesterday night we got home and he said hey elder lets go get some sugar. and i tried to explain it to him but he still didnt under stand... i eventually got him to realize that its not something we do on sundays. but its just things like that!!

When i got to the area i kind of had a rough first day. i missed my old area and got a lot of stuff piled on me at once!! Elder ramirez, i was called to be district leader and my comp didnt know the area very well at all. i knew i wasnt going to be able to do it alone so i prayed! and prayed again! I decided that if i was going to recieve the miricles that i needed i was going to need to act! so i decided to just be straight out animo!! and i did!! and the ward loved it they said a lot of good comments and they are very excited to have me in their ward! and i forgot about my problems!!! ether twelve twelve!! i love the lord!!!

Week!!

well hello!!!

So the baptisim happened!!! I

t was so good and very stressfull! she had her interview scheduled on Wednesday but she couldn't do it that day because she was sick... so it got moved to Thursday i called her to see if everything was good ready and she told me that she didn't want to get baptised any more... i talked to her on the phone about when she had said to me earlier. how she has received her answer and knows this is where she needs to be. when i got off the phone i was pretty devastated. but i decided to trust in the lord! i got on my knees and started praying!! i called her back later to see how she was doing and she had calmed down and then we talked and she said she was back on for the baptisim. so we then scheduled an interview for friday and she passed with flying colors!! in the baptisim a sister in the ward shard a really cool story!! she told us about  how a couple years ago she would go buy bread every day from the same bread store!! she said that she got to know the lady that worked there pretty well by just talking to her for 5 minutes every day! she said that one day she went home and talked to her husband and told him that she felt that she need to be a member. so the next day she was going to bring her a book of mormon!! but she went back the next day and she wasn't there... she asked the worker where she was and the worker said she quit and that she didn't know where she lived...Sunday she again saw that lady changing to be baptised in the bathroom in the church!! i know god has a plan for every single one of us and i know that if someone needs to here the gosple they will hear it!! i loved my time here in rafael castillo 1 and am ready for the new adventure that is about to come! i had a very cool feeling that joel and antonela were the reason that im here! The gosple is amazing!!

They Got Married!!

Joel and Antonela are now married and antonela is scheduled to be baptised on Saturday!! the wedding was good! they asked me to be a witness for it and i was very happy to do that for them!!

Something sad happened tho... joel was a less active member who never got the priesthood. so we were so excited for him to receive it yesterday in church so that he could baptise antonela on Saturday! but antonela being pregnant and it being their first kid got sick and was throwing up... they got kind of scared and took her to the hospital! so they weren't able to come to church... so joel sadly wasnt able to get the priesthood. but  we were able to talk to them and with out my comp knowing i asked her if she would be willing to let my comp to baptise her, being his first baptism and all! and they loved the idea so she asked him very sincerely if he would be willing to baptise her! i just wish you could have seen how my comps face lit up! we have been together for the last two transfers and i have been training him. our first transfer was very hard as we knocked doors for almost all of it with what looked in our eyes to be no success. at the begining of the second transfer we started to have success and we found joel and antonela. with alot of little miracles including the change of the marriage date we are going to have a baptism at the very end of his training! i have learned very many valuable lessons one of which being sacrifice. i would have loved to get in the water and baptise her my self. but i decided to let elder vance do it and just to see the look on his face when she asked was payback enough! i cannot wait for Saturday!! As we unselfishly serve our brothers and sisters in life we see that we will get back more then we could ever even give! i am so very grateful for these two years that i have to serve!! there is only one left and i am going to give it all to him!!

Good Week!

So this week we got talking to the aunt of joel and she told us that they were struggling. They were fighting alot! and that they weren't getting along very well. i guess a pregnant lady and a man quitting drugs isn't that good of a combination... but any way i had a good idea to get them a copy of the family proclamation and we framed it for them!! we talked to them about everything. and we taught them about we we as missionaries do. chapter 8 preach my gospel weekly planning point 13. companionship inventory! we also told them that every time they want to fight they need to kneel down and say a prayer together! they argued quite a bit while we were there... we dedicated the home with them and left on a note of some more arguing... i was very worried for them... we saw them the next day and it was like 180 turn! they were awesome!! we ate dinner with them and we got to talk to antonela about how she is feeling about all of this!! she is awesome!! she told us how she has recieved her answer that this is the ture church!! she is so ready to be baptised!! they get married on friday and i am so so so so so so so so so excited for them!!
today i was cleaning the floors and learned a very good lesson!! i was mopping and the floors were looking great!! then as i went back someone had tracked some mud in and gotten them a little dirty again and i got a little mad. i didnt say anything but it was inside. i then proceeded to clean that again and turned around and lo and behold the floor was dirty right behind me... it was me all along that got the floor dirty. i felt a little silly and proceeded to clean! i got to thinking about it and it reminded me of the talk elder utchdorf gave called "Is It I" i think. in spanish its "Soy Yo". we should never be too fast to blame others when the fault is ours. it reminded me of the book of mormon when jesus is teaching the nephites and he says "...Verily, verily, I say unto you, Judge not, that ye be not judged.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother: Let me pull the mote out of thine eye—and behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
Thou hypocrite, first cast the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast the mote out of thy brother’s eye..."
